Matcha is tencha leaves ground to a fine powder: a tea shaded before the harvest and cleaned of stems and veins. You drink the whole leaf, not an infusion, so the quality shows straight away: good matcha is bright green, smells sweet and whisks into a thick, fine foam.
This grade is for drinking matcha on its own (usucha); it would be wasted in a latte. The tin protects the powder from light. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and use it within 6–8 weeks.
In the pack
30 g tin, a brewing card with a QR code to a video, and a 5 g sample of another tea matched to your order.
